Evening Bloggers!!

It feels some time since we last updated, it has been a busy old time here and we hope this posting finds you all well.

The weather has really changed since we last updated and we have been talking about the trees and their incredible change of colours, throughout the year we spend time watching the tree outside our dining room window and each transformation always astounds us how beautiful it can look, even in the dark winter days!!

Just recently its felt quite hard keeping up with the blog as we settle back in to normal life, there are many more pressures at home in dealing with the everyday things which seem so distant when you are at the hospital.

We continue with our trips to Manchester and so far the bloods are stable and increasing slowly and steadily. Rob our consultant is very pleased with Phoebe's progress although still keeping a very close eye out for anything suspicious in the results.

This Monday saw us travelling up Manchester for Phoebe's
weekly bloods and clinic which took place on the Bone Marrow Unit. Every month Phoebe receives her iv immunoglobulins which support the immune system especially helping the B Cells. Phoebe is being an absolute star, a brave one at that, she has mild GvHG and this is causing intense dryness to the skin on her hands and feet. Her little hands are so hard and full of cracked skin, you can imagine how painful it is...only need to experience a paper cut and this will give you a brief insight into how painful they are for her.

Apart from the GvHD, Phoebe is doing remarkable and keeping us all running around and entertained as she goes. Phoebe was so tired tonight, we witnessed probably for the first time how she deals with pain. At first, she is quite defensive when trying to put the cream on her hands and feet, then she begins to talk about something which makes her laugh and we admire her spirit for keeping her sense of humour!! After a minute or so you can see the pain on her face and eventually its tears. I have to say these are the tougher emotions deal with.

Whilst I was in the bathroom tonight getting Phoebe ready for bed I started to think about the people and parents dealing with children with very severe skin complaints. The intensity of pain and discomfort is sometimes unbearable to deal with and to watch and we count our blessings in the hope this will be a short temporary condition until the new cells have taken charge over the old blood and are firmly in control!!

As I mentioned earlier, its been quite busy here especially on the work front. Being freelance allows me to work from home and this certainly helps to make our lives easier especially whilst stil
l in semi-isolation. This being one of the reasons why it has taken so long to update as the days just fly by and before we sit down in the evenings it's round about 9.30pm!!

Its nice to be talking with clients again and hopefully I will be able to concentrate a little more on getting out and about and enjoying some networking. If anyone c
an recommend some good networking events...please feel free to get in touch - lynn.oldfield@ydiy.info

Tonight, we would like to dedicate our blog to Cynthia, Maureen and all the family, we are sending you all our love and prayers during these incredibly difficult times....xxxx
