Transplant Day +56 - Recovery at Home.....A little time out!

Hi there Bloggers,

Welcome to Phoebe’s Journey and thanks for joining us today…Friday being my favourite day and it just so happens it’s been a really good day all round!

Well thankfully Ade and I managed to get to bed around 10pm so we both were much livelier this morning. Phoebe was already awake talking to all her animals; she seemed in a great mood when I walked into her room for the first cuddle of the morning, aaah its the best. Phoebs has been well in herself and enjoyed her time mooching about the house and playing with her books.

Phoebe only managed a few teaspoons of porridge this morning and only had a few sips of tea; we were a little late starting with the feeds today but managed to catch up on these a little later. Phoebe has been tolerating the feeds much better over the last few days and this maybe due to feeding by the machine. To look at Phoebe we can see she has put a little weight on, her tummy seems bigger and her cheeks look plump. Her eyes are especially sparkly at the moment and her eyebrows are really dark she looks so different!

Late morning we received a call from Pam at the Treetops and were delighted when she decided to pop over for a quick cuppa before her next visit, it’s always great to see her and she was thrilled to see how well Phoebe is doing. We look forward to another visit from Pam and Debbie next week, we have had great support from the team at Treetops and hope to organise more fundraising events for them and our other nominated charities being Cheetham’s Ward at the North Staffs, Royal Manchester Children’s Hosp and the Histocytosis Society.

Phoebe’s sickness subsided over the last 24 hours but today she had felt nauseous a few times
. We were doing well and throughout the day we tend to offer lots of different snacks, Phoebe had some apple and a small piece made her cough a little and next minute her NG tube had come up again!! Ade contacted the nurses straight away to arrange for someone to call before the next feeds were due. The community nurses have been fantastic with us and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Earlier on in the week, Annemarie, my colleague from work contacted me to ask if I fancied meeting up for lunch today at the Pieminister Shop in Trentham Gardens. It was great to see all the team; I have missed them so much and it was nice having time with them, catching up on the movers and shakers!! Some of the guys have been keeping up to date with the blog and finding it enjoyable to read each day but mentioned that they were a disappointed in not seeing more pictures of Phoebe. Unfortunately I am having trouble attaching them from my laptop so Ade will pop some on tomorrow, thanks for the feedback guys we will make sure to get some photo’s regularly on the blog. The guys updated me on things and our division has won a brilliant contract to begin next year, so well done you guys and I look forward to joining you all again soon, oh and the pie was incredibly tasty too…recommend the Thai chook!! Just a little note for Jonathan who was unable to make it for today as he was feeling unwell and thought it best not to come,
missed you for lunch, hope you feel better soon hun!!

It was nice to have a little time to myself today and couldn’t resist a visit into a couple of the shops at Trentham but before long I just wanted to head back and see how Phoebe was having had the tube re-inserted. The folks arrived today just before I left for lunch, it was nice to get back and have a cuppa with them. They have been such a great help again and we count our blessings everyday having them in our lives.

Margaret called today and was so delighted to spend some time with Phoebs, it’s great to see her, we enjoy having people stop by for a cuppa and as long as there is no germies around, you are welcome to pop by, just give us a call beforehand to let us know to put the kettle on!!!

Remind me to tell you about the feathers tomorrow!!

Thanks again for all the messages of support, love and prayers from everyone, we appreciate you being with us on this journey.

For Uncle Frank, Happy Birthday!!

Rest easy folks, much love

Hi Phoebe,

Glad you had a better day today. So you have already had a change of colour with your hair - lots more of that to come no doubt when you are a teenager! Looking forward to some pics.

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope Phoebe had a good Saturday. I think I am coming down with a cold, everyone at work has something, so I really just rested yesterday and now today I have double the things to do. Enjoy your day and your Sunday lunch.
Till Later,
Lissa
