Transplant Day +82 - Wow, we have come so far....the journey continues

Well hello there fellow Bloggers,

Hope all is well with everyone on this cold and rainy Tuesday evening and we trust everyone has had a good day?

A very warm Welcome to you all and thanks for joining us for this next instalment in Phoebe’s journey and a special welcome to all our new bloggers who have recently joined us.

Since our last posting on Sunday evening, we have been at a steady pace with Phoebe as she has not been feeling quite herself. For the most part, Phoebs is teething and she has been complaining of stomach ache which has slowed her down a little. We forget sometimes everything she has been through and that it will still take some time before we can see Phoebe at her best with a full recovery.

Consequently as Phoebe’s tummy has been unsettled she has had no real appetite either and quite surprisingly declines her regular cuppa tea (de-caff mind!) clearly telling us that she’s not feeling on top form! We have noticed over the last couple of days that Phoebs has been feeling quite tired and seemed a little unsteady on her feet, we have put this down to the fact that she has recently had low potassium levels….hence to say it has been banana’s all the way!!! And a simple pudding she quite likes is bananas mashed with some warm milk, I know that may turn a few stomachs but its simple and is actually quite tasty!

Hmm…just a thought…..anyone have any recipes for banana’s…I have a great recipe for a banana and lime cake….. On my first attempt which I thought was fairly successful Ade’s granddad asked if it was a pizza!!… :O) that still makes me chuckle…Pop your favourite recipes to us in the comments section and we will give them a try!!

The folks popped over yesterday and as you regulars will know, we always look forward to our daily visit, Gwen kindly brought us some fabulously tasty beef in ale stew which our Chef Kevin made at the club…Thanks Kevin…Ade and I devoured it with a chunky piece of cob…!!

Later in the afternoon, we had the pleasure of a surprise visit from our dear friend Helen (Whitehurst). Phoebe’s face was a picture when she popped her head through the door and was thrilled to spend a little time with her. As Phoebe didn’t have a nap early afternoon, she was so cosy with Helen that she started to doze off...pure cuddle heaven!!!

Phoebe slept quite well and we awoke this morning fairly early ready for our weekly visit to the clinic in Manchester. How is it that we were up by 6.30am..our appointment is not until 11.45am and we still manage to leave the house late…bizarre!! For the first time today and quite unexpectedly Phoebe was not a happy bunny and had her first tantrum with me when I brought her into the bathroom to brush her teeth…oh my goodness, its never normally a problem as she is so laid back but bless her she was very overtired and ready for her morning nap….on reflection I could have definitely handled the situation much better….but being a parent is a constant learning process, obviously we’re still in the early stages but Ade and I have enjoyed it so far feeling confident in our roles and if Phoebe is happy, we are too.

Eventually arriving at Manchester luckily not too late, Rob was very pleased to see Phoebe looking so well and we were all delighted when the scales showed Phoebe had put on a little weight, any increase in ounces are a wonderful step forward in right direction towards recovery. Results from samples taken show that Phoebe still has the Norovirus and Rob continues to reassure us that this will just take time to clear as Phoebe’s immune system develops to full strength. Phoebe enjoys interacting with Sarah especially holding her wiggly lines whilst Sarah takes blood, as we have now attended a few outpatient appointments Phoebe is becoming more comfortable with some of the procedures but definitely not when we need to change her dressings!! She is so brave bless her. The appointment seemed to go so quickly and before we knew it we were on our way home.

Mum and Dad welcomed us home with a cuppa and Phoebe nearly popped a fuse when she saw my Dad in the driveway, she was so excited, it was great to see them and they kindly helped us cleaning through the house….believe me I know how lucky and thoroughly blessed we are!!
Gwen, Nan and Geoff all popped in and the afternoon was relaxed with no sickness…bonus!!

Well its been a good day and just want to say a couple of thankyou’s to our lovely neighbours Martin and Jill over the road who so kindly gave Phoebe a beautiful rag doll, Phoebe loved it and she came with us to the hospital!! Bless you guys and thanks for being such great neighbours.

We are really lucky to have such lovely neighbours too with Joan and Phil it’s like having another Mum and Dad next door!! A big hello to you both and all the family, thanks again for being so supportive.

Just to let you know that Auntie Winnie is doing well with all things considered and its good to have a little chat with her each day, she has plenty of fantastic neighbours popping in…true blessings!!

Now before I head off…anyone fancy joining me for a coffee and catch up over here tomorrow evening whilst Ade is at the footy, we usually have a least a couple of peeps here just in case…I’ll leave it up to you guys but if you fancy it give us a call tomorrow, we’ll be at home but hope to get Phoebe out for some fresh air and a brisk walk at some point…

For now….

‘If an angel had a job description it would only consist of one
task..To do the work of love xx

Rest easy folks until our next posting at the weekend…
Much love
Lynn, Ade, Phoebe and Spirit Eleanor xxxx

Hi Phoebe,

Glad you have put on some weight this week and wahey Stoke won! Our mum likes the simple barbeque banana - split open and stuffed with chocolate and plonked on the bbq- tastes lovely and no washing up to do as it stays in the skin!!

Lots of love
