Transplant Day +136 - Onwards and Upwards!!!

Hi there everyone,

Thanks for joining us again and we hope this latest posting finds you all well having enjoyed the fairly sunny but cool weekend.

Its been a busy few days with some interesting developments for Phoebe mainly due to her appetite. Even though it has slowed the last couple of days she has been much better and has actually been asking for things. Phoebe still has the Norovirus and this continues to affect her taste buds but every now and again she really enjoys a little ice-cream!!

Phoebe is still neutropenic (low blood counts) and therefore we decided to stay at home this week, she has really enjoyed being able to spend time outside and I think this has done her the world of good having a little sunshine too. Phoebe continues to have some sickness but this had lessened somewhat during the first half of this week so we feel this is a positive and encouraging step in the direction for a full recovery.

It’s been a great week for visitors and this week we welcomed our dear friend Helen. Its always a pleasure to see Helen as she brings in a wonderful energy and Phoebe is always so pleased to see her too.

Pam and Debbie from the Donna Louise Childrens Hospice also popped by and again it’s always great to see them and they continue to be a tremendous support for us. Both Pam and Debbie were amazed by Phoebe’s progress; she has been much brighter especially being able to spend time outside. The wonderful work continues at the Hospice providing care for children and families with life limiting illnesses and end of life care. We are so humbled as they continue to welcome us at the hospice some four years since Eleanor’s passing and we are only too pleased to help out with regular fundraising. Thanks to everyone who has helped with donations and we look forward to arranging some more events later in the year. We are pleased to sponsor and congratulate Tony Pulis on completing the London Marathon today in aid of the Donna Louise Trust. Well done Tony!! If you would like to help and donate to Tony’s fundraising please go to http://www.justgiving.com/tonypulis

I have managed to pop out for a little time out this week, updating on a few things at work and again this left me feeling humbled by the encouragement and support I have received by Redstone and all my colleagues during these challenging times.

Thanks also to Rachel at Bladez in Wolstanton who gave me a well needed super haircut and some good relaxation time, bless you..I needed that!!!

As you may remember from my last posting Uncle Jimmy passed away and his funeral took place on Friday. It was a nice ceremony and I felt happy to have been able to do a reading and the bidding prayers during the service, although I was extremely nervous. It was lovely to see so many friends and neighbours who attended the service, they have played a huge part in looking out for Uncle Jimmy keeping him safe, warm, fed and watered whilst he was out and about around the Fenton area during his 12 year battle with Alzheimers. The service also happened to be the first outing for Ade and I during the day since November and thanks to Gwen and Nan who looked after Phoebe, we were able to relax and catch up with some old friends and family. As some of you may know Uncle Jimmy played for Stoke City some years ago and it was great to see some of his old team mates reminiscing at the pictures we displayed of him during his life.

It has been a nice and relaxing weekend taking the opportunity to get out for walks and today we managed to head out early and travelled over to Ilam in the Peak District. We are so lucky to live so close to these beautiful parts... beautiful by the way being one of Phoebe’s favourite words at the moment….everything is BEAUTIFUL!! Mum and Dad looked after us once again with a wonderful Sunday lunch. Bless you both xx Phoebe’s appetite has been low today but we never have two days the same so it helps us to avoid any expectation. Just when we think the Norovirus has gone it returns with a vengeance but Phoebe is making great progress and it won’t be too long before she kicks this virus out for good. Phoebe still has a runny nose and she copes remarkably well with this not letting it affect her spirit too much. We are back to the clinic on Tuesday and it will be interesting to see what her blood levels are considering we have reduced the immuno-suppressant therapy to one dose every other day. We are hoping the immune system will come up soon and we can then look forward to planning regular trips out without any restrictions on Phoebs.

A special note tonight for my god-daughter Molly who auditioned for The Royal Ballet in Manchester on Friday. We are so pleased you enjoyed the experience and look forward to hearing more about it.

A special hello to our friends Susannah, Shawn and all the children overseas in the U.S., its always lovely to catch up with you on the phone although it will be so much better when we can get over there to see you all.

Good news for Angela our family counsellor in Manchester who continues with her recovery following her broken leg. We’re so pleased you will be able to drive again soon and we look forward to catching up with you gain !!

Thanks to everyone still reading our postings and for all the positive encouragement to continue with the blog. We may look to updating this weekly but will see how things go as you know we don’t like to plan too much!

So for now peeps, thanks for popping by and we look forward to catching up with you all again after our weekly clinic appointment on Tuesday.

For all you lovely bloggers out there….

Let each new blossom peeking out at the sun remind you of angels
luxuriating in Heaven’s light. Then lay your head back, feel that same sun on your face, count your blessings and enjoy the luxury the angels do.

Rest easy..Much love,

Lynn, Ade, Phoebe and Spirit Eleanor xxxx
