Good Evening Bloggers,
Firstly….A very Happy Birthday Mum!!!
Welcome and thanks for joining us again on possibly the coldest night for 30 years as Nan tells us!! My instant feeling was to spare a thought for the people who are sleeping on the streets, hope they find shelter and warmth and just how lucky are we to just be able to switch our fires on!!
Throughout this journey with Phoebs, we have spent time reflecting on the simpler things in life and as I have said so many times before, our blessings may be in disguise, we have learnt to appreciate them so much, you just can't help but think about things a little deeper really.
Well, looking back at the past 24 or so hours, we are glad we made the right decision to head back to Manchester early. Phoebe settled last night and we started the day around 7am. All the bloods and swabs were taken ok. The NG tube seemed to be working fine and she only tried to pull it out once.
We have spent the day in the hospital not really wanting to settle ourselves too much. Phoebe’s NG tube has been not an ounce of trouble to her and along with everything else; she has just taken it in her stride and carried on with things. Again, the doctors had confirmed Phoebe has contracted the Norovirus and therefore put us back into isolations again. As Phoebe’s weight has reduced, Rob decided we would need to speak to the dietician before coming home.
It was 5.10pm before Nicola came as she had so many patients to see, it gave us time to pack everything away ready to bring all our things home and this is another step closer to Rob discharging us ready to start our weekly clinic visits. We have been allowed home tonight until Thursday morning.
Phoebe hasn’t eaten a huge amount today but has been quite happy on her stable diet of Tea!! We have enjoyed some quality play time together and just enjoyed relaxing. We also had a visit from the new music therapist Rachel today which Phoebe enjoyed.
Thankfully we are now back at home, welcomed by Mum and Dad who kindly waited here for us. Phoebe asked for ‘Marg’ too so it was nice that she could call over. Phoebe has been doing really well and seemed to be quite hungry when we arrived home, she was asking for some porridge and ate quite a bit, my Mother’s instinct was spot on and I knew her stomach was unsettled. Phoebe had all her medicines through the NG tube and had some quiet time with Margaret reading stories but after a while was quite sick a little later and unfortunately the NG tube came up with it. We have contacted the hospital and Rob will hopefully arrange to have a community nurse come by and insert a new tube tomorrow.
Phoebe is calm and settled now so will head off and update you all tomorrow.
For now dear friends

Dear Lynn Ade, Phoebe and Spirit Eleanor,
A very Happy Birthday Margaret...
Wow what a day. Did Phoebe get upset when the tube came out, or was she to sick to even realize it?
My Shawn was in the hospital once when he was about 9 (he hadn't been going to the bathroom enough and was very backed up) so they put the tube in so he wouldnt have to drink all the nasty stuff that would make him go, well of course he was so upset about the tube and it was a big production with his Dad helping to hold him down and Me crying in the hallway, well they finally got it in and he was so exhausted he went to sleep as I sat there watching him I suddenly noticed his finger was wrapped in the tube and as I jumped up, he put his hand down and out the tube came. I was so upset, they didnt put the tube in again and believe me the next few days for him were not pleasant, so I can imagine how you must have felt when the tube came out. Poor Phoebs she does handle everything so well.
Hope tomorrow is a good day and as always thoughts and prayers always
Love Lissa

Oh guys, what a funny kind of a day, good to be back home but then the tube business.....thank goodness for community nurses!
And a happy birthday to your MUM!!! I have spoken to several Brits today and they were all taking about how cold it is over there right now; stay warm British Bloggers!
Oh Lissa, your tube story sounds rough too. I agree with you - Phoebe does handle it all so well:)
Ok well all that talk of tea on the blog makes me want to put the kettle on! So I'm off for some Earl Grey ("decaf mind"!). Good night all - and hope tomorrow is calm and sick free.
Tons of love

How wonderful for you to be home again (hope you've got the fire on and Phoebe's keeping warm with all those lovely cups of Yorkshire tea!). It sounds like you've got a brilliant support team, from consultants to nurses to music therapists. Not to mention all your amazing family and friends rallying round.
It sounds like you made the right decision re the NG tube - I can appreciate, as a parent, how stressful it must have been trying to get all those meds down - knowing how important they were for Phoebe but also knowing how unhappy it was making her. At least that is one less point of stress for you, and you can concentrate on spending lots more quality time with Phoebe and slowly building up her food intake.
Enjoy your time at home, love and hugs to you all.

P.S. We had a fab new year with Johnathan and Helen: fish pie and champagne followed by a tennis tournament on the Wii (present to us from Santa!) - just ask Johnathan about my smokin' serves!
Hi to you all
Glad you had a good weekend at home and judging by the snow we had over Sunday night it was a great decision to head back the evening before. Phoebe seems to be doing really well and so resilient yet it still must be hard to see her being sick and a huge emotional strain on you all. But as always you face things head on and show immense courage and understanding of Phoebe.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Will be lovely to see you at home.
Speak soon, love and hugs
Michelle and Owen
