Transplant Day +44 - Recovery at Home

Good Morning Everyone,

This is unexpected!! Firstly I must apologise for the blog yesterday, oh my goodness I was so tired and literally falling asleep whilst typing, that’s probably why it didn’t make too much sense!! :o)

Hope everyone is well today and enjoying your Saturday!

Just to update you a little more on yesterday. Phoebe was well for the most part yesterday, while the folks came over, Phoebe walked non-stop all afternoon, we can tell she is getting stronger in herself and it will just take a little time to get her completely well.

Throughout the morning we continued to try Phoebe with different snacks, she had a few teaspoons of porridge for breakfast, we do normally vary breakfast for her but porridge is something she is really enjoying at the moment. A little while later, she ate a quarter of a small Scottish pancake as well as a few mugs of tea!! Its really so funny she still enjoys drinking tea but of course a cuppa always makes you feel better!!

Even though we are in semi-isolation at home, it still feels like freedom compared to staying in hospital. Ade and I are lucky in the fact that we enjoy being at home anyway and have the chance to nip out for a break from time to time.

Yesterday, I received such a lovely call from Pam Lockett who is our contact at Treetops Hospice. Pam kindly reminded me that the ‘Mothers Journey’ meeting was scheduled for 2.30pm and it would be a lovely surprise for the girls if I could make it. Without a doubt I thought it would be good to have a break, the folks were fine and Phoebe was due to have a sleep.

As I arrived, Pam was there to greet me with a warm hug, she is such a special lady and her work has been a tremendous benefit to us as a family along with each of the mothers in our group. It was fantastic to see the girls and walking into the room, they all jumped up and ran to greet me, it was a wonderful welcome, bless you all. Having been away from a few of the meetings due to our stay in Manchester, it was great to be back and updating on everyone’s news and plans for the coming months ahead. We are so pleased to be able to meet every month to six weeks, it’s a great source of support and to be able to talk about how life is following the loss of a child can be a great help. So a special mention to all the girls at the group who keep updated each day. Thanks girls, it was really lovely to catch up with you all and I look forward to seeing you all again in February.

Phoebe had been brilliant all afternoon and had started to ask for me as I was on my way home, bless her. Dad said everyone had really enjoyed their time with her, she had run them off their feet!!!

As Phoebe had walked so much today, she was quite tired early evening, we took the opportunity to get her ready for an early night. Chris and Leanne arrived and were surprised by her talking, we enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening and it all just went too fast. Thanks for the lovely elephant for Phoebe guys; it was great to catch up with you both and congratulations on your new Jobs!!!

So…today!!

Its been fairly relaxed so far today, not sure if Phoebe was dreaming when she awoke saying “no more, no more” guess she may have been dreaming about her meds!!

It’s nice to look back at photo’s of Phoebe and see how far she has come, there were some beautiful ones of her God-mother Andrea giving Phoebe a hug and kiss, we were talking about the photo's when we visited Molly…should I be surprised when I tell you that the phone rang and guess what…….it was Andrea, its lovely when that happens, we are all very much in tune with each other and it usually happens like that doesn’t when you think of a person and then they call you, we call them…happenstances!!! Phoebe really made Molly and I laugh when she repeated what I had said to Molly 'Bye Darling', Molly thought it was hilarious as Phoebs kept saying it over again.

The troops arrived whilst I was taking a shower and it’s always a good time for me to say a few prayers of thanks for our truly blessed life and the family and friends surrounding us. Mum and Dad brought a beautiful gift from our cousins Ange, Ray, Florence and George. Thank you all so much, Phoebe’s outfit is just gorgeous, you are all too kind, bless you!!

We plan to just relax at home ready for our evening out with friends. Our dear friend Estelle is Scottish and is very kindly putting on a traditional ‘Burns Night’ with all the trimmings, Estelle is a great cook, it’s our favourite kind of evening having dinner and spending time with friends ...aah!!!

Well it’s nearly 3pm; we will post this for now and update you all on our evening a little later xx

Bye for now xxxx

Hi Once again Everyone,

Well we have just returned home from a wonderful evening with Estelle, Berge, Jonathan, Helen, Andrea and Bert, it was so great to spend time with everyone. Estelle had of course exceeded herself once again with fabulous food, Potato and Leek Soup followed by traditional Haggis with Neeps and Taties and Cranachan for pudding...it was so tasty, Ade entertained us by reading a special Robert Burns poem, superb evening was had by all!! Thanks so much Est for a wonderful night and a big hello to all the guys!

Phoebe has been well today, continuing to have a little sickness but otherwise she's great, we look forward to a tasty Sunday lunch tomorrow but for now folks....rest easy and we look forward to updating you with our next installement of Phoebe's progress.
'Give yourself opportunities for stillness and rest. There is a quiet space in your heart and you need to go there, regularly -
not to ask, or to seek for answers, but just to be.'
Rest Easy
Much love

Hello guys! Good to hear you got out the other night, that must be so nice to have a change of scene with good friends! And to meet the Treetops Moms too. So great to hear of Phoebe walking so much too - hurrah! S'cuse the pun, but this journey seems truly to be about small steps.

Take care all of you! Hope you have a restful night and a peaceful day tomorrow.
