Hey Folks,
Aaah the weekend is here!! Another week has flown so quickly...where does the time go?? Hope you are all well.
Its been a good day today although challenging for Phoebe with all the medications and treatment she has received. We are home now arriving a little later than expected so will keep tonights blog brief and get an early night!!
Phoebe has had another round of chemotherapy today and has coped well with this. Observations throughout the day have been good, during the afternoon we received the results from virology tests carried out last week. Results are showing that EBV (Epstein Barr Virus/Glandular Fever) is showing in her blood. Most of us carry EBV within us and the immune system is constantly working to keep this at bay but it can start to show if your immune system is low. Phoebe's condition HLH is seen in family genetics and somewhat ironically, it can also be triggered by EBV. For Phoebe, EBV came with the last donor cells and her immune system has done very well to control it but unfortunately it has shown up in a mild level which needs to be treated to avoid delay with the transplant. Today, Phoebe started treatment for this following the chemo and virology tests will be repeated when we go back in for the transplant on Tuesday.
Phoebe has eaten well without any sickness which many people would expect with chemotherapy and we are glad in some ways that she is bulking herself up ready for the transplant in case she diverts and starts to loose weight because she can't eat. Last time, some of you may remember we needed to feed Phoebe with a nasogastric tube as she had the norovirus for some six months. As this is particularly associated with winter time we just hope that Phoebe will continue as she is doing and recover well as her stem cells settle in.
Much to think about there and we will be focusing on preparing for admission this weekend along with making the most of our time at home before heading back to Manchester on Tuesday. For now dear friends......
Night for now, enjoy your Saturday
Much love
Lynn, Ade, Phoebe and Spirit Eleanor xxxx

Hello lovelies! So good to hear Phoebe hasn't had any of the nasty sickness associated with chemo but the EBV situation is a bummer. I had it last summer and it was horrible -and I wasn't going through everything Phoebe is. The three of you are just such an inspiration, you really are. Your spirit is just so amazing Lynn, I don't know if you really comprehend how special you are. You are all my heroes:) Keep fighting! Tons and tons of love to you all!
