Transplant Day +2... Aaah no more noodles!!!

Evening Bloggers,

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend!

We start tonight by updating you on Phoebe's appetite as there have been huge changes over the past three days and today, she hasn't really eaten anything at all apart from some Kellogs Cheerios!! Out with the turkey and cranberry sandwiches and Super Noodles!! Its quite bizarre watching this going from different extremes.

Now that
Phoebe has received her transplant, we may see some changes over the coming weeks and appetite is one of them. In some ways we are really pleased that she had eaten so much as this will be in her favour now supporting her whilst she may not feel too good.

Observations earlier today showed Phoebe had a slight temperature and she was given some paracetamol. Blood pressures have been fine and she has been started on some antibiotics for the redness around her belly button just in case it shows anything bacterial on her skin.

As you can imag
ine, we are all washing hands thoroughly to make sure we avoid passing anything over to Phoebe at this crucial time. Also we are all required to wear plastic pinny's whilst in the room. All of these procedures help to minimise cross infection whilst she is immuno-compromised.

So, for what has been a rather quiet weekend, Phoebe, Ade and I are feeling a little tired at the moment as we continue Phoebe's nebulising treatments with very late nights and early rises for her, although it has been great to move and have another difference to our day with a view to the outside world. Phoebe is fascinated by the moon and tonight it has captivated her as it popped back and forth from behind the clouds, she was thrilled when it finally shone with all its magnificance!! Here she is taking it in her stride..watching Peppa!!

Now, some of you may remember from the last blog, we explained the reasons why we needed to transfer rooms for this particular nebulising treatment, although we are technically in isolation. I described needing to be in a positive pressured room but in actual fact, Phoebe's Bone Marrow Transplant room is already a positive pressured environment as the filter system filters new air in and directs is out of the room. Whilst the other regular cubicle contains the vapours keeping our pregnant ladies and asthmatics safe!... Obviously, just want to make sure that the information we are providing is as accurate as possible and by the end of our journey, you will all have a greater knowledge of Bone Marrow Transplants and life on a Bone Marrow Unit.

For all you early riser
s out there that catch us first thing in the morning, Happy Monday!! Had a conversation with my dear friend Andrea tonight and she was telling me how some bloggers have a routine time of updating with us. Estelle, another great friend of ours is a very early riser and settles into her seat on the 6am train to join us, whilst Andrea checks in with us each day as she arrives at work. Do you have a favourite time to read the blog?

Here is our chosen art for today and this comes from Regan in Stoke. Regan really enjoys making things and has a very creative talent, as well as drawing!! Just to let you know Regan, Phoebe has been playing and washing her Go-Go's everyday and is really enjoying them, so thank you sweetheart xxx

Phoebe received a lovely parcel in the post today from Ali, Alex, Rosie and Fin who join u
s from Wales!! Thank you, Phoebe loves her books and has read the tiger story three times already!! Fab card too!! It was great spending time with you and all the guys in Ross-on-Wye and we look forward to visiting you with the caravan soon!!

Jess, hope you had a lovely birthday sweetheart xxxx

Hi to you all.

I am checking in early today, which is typical as Owen is on holiday with mum and dad, I'm not at work and it's a bank holiday - not surprising then that i woke at the crack of dawn!!! So good morning to you all and so glad to see that Phoebe is still taking everything in her stride - a truly amazing little girl.

Sending all my love to you all and hoping to see you again soon.

Take care and lots of hugs

Well done - it's all so thorough - almost feels like we are there with you - wonderful! And as for little Phoebe! She is truly remarkable - no wonder you are so proud of her. She is going through such an enormous journey and coping brilliantly! Well done, Phoebe.
I have told Maddie, Alex and Chloe that Phoebe likes pictures and paintings, so they are here now, crayons, paints, sellotape etc all over the floor getting really stuck in, so look out in the post, they will be making there way to Manchester very soon!
