2nd Day of Conditioning Treatment

Hey, Welcome Friends

Well, we’ve done another day, and it’s another day closer to getting little Phoebe Margi well and on the road to recovery.

Its been somewhat challenging today, Phoebe has been incredible really considering the drug regime, she had a quite a bout of sickness this morning and this meant we had to cut short our daily walk down to the canteen, she hasn’t eaten that much today which is expected but Phoebe is still drinking well.

Its been a real learning curve today in listening to your child, especially during illness. Phoebe surprises us everyday with her level of understanding and actually when she says no….she means it!! Phoebe now needs to have more oral medicines such as antibiotics and paracetamol. She has done really well considering she has only had the occasional need for Calpol. We will persevere as we would like to avoid Phoebe having a nasogastic tube. We have had lots of lessons today on how the equipment works which is used to administer the chemo, and again, the nurses and doctors have been a great help in keeping us updated, reassuring us and answering any questions we have…..by the way…do any of you have any questions??

Phoebe's bloods are showing as the consultants are expecting and she has had a further round of Chemotherapy today, this has made her a little more sick this evening, bless her, she copes very well through it really. As it has been a rather heavy day, it will be a fairly brief posting tonight, as I’ll heading to bedfordshire early...well I say early...its 12.10am now!!

Mum, Dad and Gwen came over, they finally made it after an exhausting trip with bad traffic and the closure of the M62, Phoebe was so pleased to see them and this really perked her up……but not as chuffed as I was, the troups arrived, bless 'em, with a dozen oatcakes in tow plus all the fillings too!! Oh the joy of being a Stokie!! I will ask the nurses to try our local speciality and report back...Thanks too Andy for the lovely angus burgers you sent, much appreciated!

We have taken a few photos today and I will ask my personal tekkie (Ade!!) to attach them for the next installment.. before I go, I would just like to introduce something new for the blog….

As some of you may know, Angels play a big part in my life and thought it would be nice to leave you each day with a little quote from my angel calendar….

‘The days, the hours, the minutes of our lives are guarded and observed by heaven’

Thanks again, for all the well wishes, love and positive vibes, it means a great deal xxx

We wish you all well……

All our love
xx

I have a question....is the chemo part of the conditioning treatment you outlined in the timetable in your first post here? Does it last just the 8 days or so of the conditioning treatment?

Hi there, just signed in to your blog and great to hear how well Phoebe is doing so far. Henry is going to be looking and reading every day ( I think to see if he can remember his days of his bone marrow transplant!)
All our best wishes
